Sony spokesperson David Karraker has confirmed that as of Monday the 60GB version of the PS3 will retail for $499, presenting a $100 price drop on the previous retail price. In addition to this price cut, Sony will be releasing a new 80GB equipped PS3 to the market which will come bundled with a copy of Motorstorm for a total price of $599. Karraker noted that the move plays into the company's strategy of eventually offering high definition content including movies, video games, trailers and more akin to online Xbox 360 services. More details on Sony's high definition movie download service are expected to be revealed at a later date.
