Sony has issued a strong apology to Manchester Cathedral for using the location as a backdrop for Resistance: Fall of man. Sony published an apology in a city newspaper and stated that it was never their intentions to offend anyone in making the game and offered an unreserved apology to the offence caused. David Reeves of Sony also confirmed that Sony will never use the respective location in any other games, but this has people questioning whether Sony will still continue to cause offence by virtually reporducing other places of worship.

Cathedral dean, the Very Reverend Roger Govender, said that he still feared another religious building could be "cloned for virtual desecration".
The Sony apology, in the Manchester Evening News, followed a meeting between the cathedral and the firm.

"As a result, it is also clear that we have offended some of the congregation by using the cathedral in our science fiction game.
