NewJersey.com has posted up some more than angry comments from parents who are concerned by Nintendo's decision to release the Wii Zapper. The Wii is being marketed as a family console and officially releasing a peripheral which encourages kids to pretend they are shooting people with a gun isn't the smartest thing to do. One parent sarcastically remarked that "this is what we need, children with guns learning how to aim and shoot" and another grandparent again sarcastically suggested that they should enclose an application to the NRA as well. So what do you think, is it a good move from Nintendo the company with a good family reputation to release a peripheral which encourages youngsters to replicate shooting actions? A bit of harmless fun or could it have long term implications on a child?

Quote:
"Great, this is what we need. Children with guns learning how to aim and shoot. Then we can sit back and wonder what is happening to our country with kids killing kids......what's next? Could we make it squirt blood, too" one reader commented

A "very concerned grandparent" wrote:
"....Why don't they enclose an application to the NRA in every box as well....the marketing person who came up with this brain child of an idea should be fired."

Another reader commented, "I think it's irresponsible for Wii to come out with a controller that looks like a gun so kids can play games simulating shooting. What kind of message are we sending as parents when we buy these things for our kids?"

...Maybe if parents did their bloody job they wouldn't put a 'gun shaped controller' in the hands of their children- if they have such a problem with that. Meanwhile, let the rest of adults enjoy it for it is. If this is a family based console, not everything is going to be specifically for children, while not everything will solely be meant for adults. I know, parents, it's a real blow from Nintendo: Your young one is NOT, in fact, the center of everyone's world. A company has gone and mass produced an item that excludes you and your precious propagation. Much like everything else relevant in modern societies, this immediately qualifies the item (and an subsequent reasoning) an assault on 'moral' character.

Be rational people. Simply inform a company that your are displeased with their direction in producing a product, let them know why, and let them know you will not be purchasing it. Grand-standing inspires them to make more or the same, because for each audacious comment that is publicized for free, they make three sales of the same product. Also, please don't blame another company if you're not adult enough to control your own children. It's not Nintendo's fault for making the gun- if you have a problem with it and your child, it's your fault if they play with it. Talk with your kids, let them know why you don't like them playing with it.
