Sony was recently probed for a response regarding the 'poor' start that the PS3 had had in comparison to the likes of the Nintendo Wii. A company spokesperson in response sent out a gentle remidner that the system is in a marathon and the the plan is to make at last for a decade, so any slow start is part of the game. However, he did assert that there will be a strong push for the expansion of the platform over the next few months with a rich line-up of software titles.
"We developed the PS3 as a hardware that lasts for decades and believe we are in a marathon rather than a sprint," company spokesperson Nanako Kato said when asked by GamePro why the system was being outsold by rival Wii 6 to 1 in Japan.News Source: Gamepro.com
"With that said, SCE will accelerate the expansion of the PS3 platform over the next several months by offering a rich lineup of attractive software titles and pursuing own promotional activities as a platform holder."
